We are a faith-based organization, intensely focused on providing top quality small arms solutions to our military and law enforcement communities as well as to civilians seeking premium rifles for home defense, hunting, and sport shooting.Job Summary:The Tool Maker 1 will be responsible for the functions outlined belowEssential Functions:* Responsible for demonstrating commitment to and leadership of environmental health and safety principles, policies and procedures.* Build, repair and maintain jigs, fixtures, dies, gauges, and tools for manufacturing operations.* Read and interpret blueprints or work from verbal or written instructions or from the part to be copied or fitted.* Calculate the dimensions and tolerances required to set up the machine tools.* Operates lathes, grinders, milling, and boring machines to product tools.* Make and keep up spare parts inventory for manual work holding fixtures and hydraulic tombstones.* Service all manual work holding fixtures, hydraulic tomb stones and repair as needed.* Train as a toolmaker learning to set-up and operate manual machines while building spare fixture parts.* Maintain proper housekeeping of work area; keep all machines, tools and equipment and work surfaces (to include floors) free of oil, grease, chips, etc.* Perform hand operations involved in producing jigs, fixtures, tools and dies using hand tools of the trade.* Rely on work instructions (including preventative maintenance instructions), standard operating procedures and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.* Participates in the company's efforts to continuously improve in Safety, 6S, Quality, Delivery and Productivity.* Expected to be a contributor to the company standards on high integrity, safety, fair and equitable treatment and a positive work environment* Reports to a supervisor or manager.* Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate or necessary by management.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:* High school diploma with 1-3 years of prior manufacturing experience in metal working environment or a combination of related experience, education and/or training to sufficiently and successfully perform the essential functions of the job.* Works under immediate supervision.* Generally participating in apprenticeship or on the job training program.* Knowledge of shop math necessary to perform the required work assignments within the scope of the job.* Teamwork and the ability to cooperate and work proactively with others is a must.* Flexibility and willingness to progress in tool room skills.* Excellent attention to detail and excellent record keeping skills.* Self-motivated; willing to put in extra effort and hours as needed.* Ability to prioritize responsibilities and work under deadlines and pressure.* Must be willing to maintain company required tools.* Demonstrated ability to recognize and work in accordance with our Permission to Play Values.* It is understood employees may be assigned to other departments, functional groups, and/or shifts as deemed necessary by management.Physical Requirements:* Must be able to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 pounds.* Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting and bending throughout the work day.* Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, to include working in and around machinery, exposure to noise and chemicals, lights/lasers, etc.* Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protection Equipment as required by your position and/or Company policy.Daniel Defense is an EOE AA M/F/Vet/Disability employer and promotes a Drug-Free Workplace.
