Job Summary Analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair extrusion tooling, metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools by performing the following duties.Essential Functions Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, travel WEDM, CNC milling machine, drill press, and grinders, to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications.Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations.Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining.Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances.Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, jigs and fixtures. Recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of part.Develops specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draws or sketches design of needed tools and products.Other duties as assigned. Secondary Functions N/A Performance Measures This position will be required to operate all tool room equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Individual will be expected to work in an environment where multiple projects will be occurring at the same time.Accuracy and quality.Ability to perform duties from verbal instructions.Attendance. Supervisory Responsibility N/A Position Type/Expected Hours of Work Full-Time, Monday to Friday from 7:00AM to 3:30PM Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent.2 to 5 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with building extrusion tooling is a plus. Skills (Language, Mathematical, Reasoning, Other) Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Good trouble shooting skills. Must have the ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced atmosphere. Working Conditions/Physical Demands Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.Regularly required to stand. Frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
