DescriptionReports To: Tool Room Supervisor Job Status: Hourly Job Locations: Bryan, OH Basic Job Functions: Altenloh, Brinck & Co. US, Inc. manufactures and distributes engineered fasteners under the SPAX• brand for the construction market, TRUFAST• for the commercial roofing industry and TRUFAST Walls• for exterior building envelopes and facades. The Toolmaker will operate and maintain tool room equipment, maintain organization of tool room, and organize and track the flow of tooling while in the manufacturing process. Our benefits include:

Essential Responsibilities:General
  • Clock in and out of Paychex and SAP: Clock in and out of Paychex and SAP correctly according to your schedule and work assignments.
  • Operate and maintain tool room equipment: Operate and maintain tool room equipment in an efficient and safe manner. (drill press, mill, lathe, hone, surface grinder)
  • Maintain organization of tool room supplies (i.e., send mills, drill bits, grinding wheels, etc.): Keep tool room supplies organized and report to supervisor when supplies are needed.
  • Be able to use all measuring tools: Must inspect tooling components at various stages of completion to ensure quality. Keep tooling work organized to ensure effective use of time.
  • Organize and track the flow of tooling while in the manufacturing process: Keep tooling work organized to ensure effective use of time.
  • Work to close tolerance: Work efficiently with an emphasis on quality and accuracy.
  • Keep work area clean and organized: Ensure tool room equipment and work area are clean and organized and not leave it for others to clean up.
  • Continuously work to improve tooling manufacturing methods and procedures: Work with others to continuously learn and improve skills and tooling quality.
  • Inspects materials, die components, features, and details: Measures size of materials, identifies material type and checks for defects and flaws.
  • Plans job and sets up workstation: Reviews prints and obtains materials for the job.
  • Sets up equipment and machine components and details: Moves and stages material and parts for machining. Polish, removes burr, and inspect completed parts for quality and compliance.
  • Assembles tools and die: Ensure all clearances are tolerant and bores are clean and free of any imperfections.
  • Troubleshoots tool and die problems: Determine why die components and tools are worn and breaking prematurely.
Position RequirementsExperience:
  • Completion of formal apprenticeship program plus 2 years' experience or 4-6 years' experience as a Toolmaker using basic tool room and CNC equipment.
Education:
  • High school diploma or GED required
Required Skills/Competencies:
  • Strong organizational and communication skills also be able to multi-task.
  • Ability to work from drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions.
  • Have basic computer skills (familiar with CAD/CAM & MS Office software).
  • Must be quality and detailed minded with strong work ethics and a self-starter.
  • Ability to work under pressure and within time deadlines.
  • Must follow good safety practices and adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Must be able to work well and respectfully with others.
  • Must be able to operate a conversational mill and manual lathe
Physical Requirements: Remaining in a stationary position, standing for prolonged periods. The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, and to stand, walk, reach, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs.
