Job Description :

As a Trading Operations Specialist in Chicago, your key role will be supporting Agricultural trading desks globally. Your tasks will include trade capture, confirmation, reconciliation, and P&L calculation, calling for strong communication skills as you'll liaise with various internal teams and senior management. You'll need to handle the stress of a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism. Responsibilities:

  • Assume ownership and expertise of processes and workflows to support standard operational and trader assistant functions of the firm's Agricultural trading desks
  • Handle trade and position reconciliation with the firm's clearing firms, prime brokers, and bilateral counterparties
  • Perform daily P&L calculation and substantiation: ensure that the preferred method of aggregating and reporting P&L at each desk aligns and integrates with the firm's standards
  • Achieve proficiency in the firm's proprietary and third-party trade capture, inventory management, and P&L reporting systems necessary to support the desks' activity
  • Act as the primary contact for current workflows, addressing issues that may arise between internal groups and multiple external exchanges, clearers, and counterparties
  • Provide crucial support and advice on needed enhancements to technology, workflows, and processes as a system super-user
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of traders' individual risk management tools and offer support for their requirements
  • Upgrade and support traders' tools to align with standard firm technologies and tools
  • Collaborate with technical personnel to ensure proper support for ongoing operations and procure enhancements for deficient or new workflows, with a focus on process efficiency, risk reduction, and alignment with firm standards
  • Partner closely with the Business Liaison team to ensure new desks, traders, and products are onboarded correctly
Required Experience:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or another quantitative field, or material equivalent experience
  • Proven ability to independently and rapidly solve problems
  • Ability to perform tasks consistently and reliably
  • Competency in handling sensitive financial data
  • Strong MS Excel skills
Preferred Experience:
  • 2+ years of experience in finance or trading
  • Previous interaction with front office and senior management personnel in a dynamic trading environment
  • Ability to work with databases and utilize data from APIs
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, SQL, VBA
