Job Description :
Installs and maintains traffic control devices including traffic signals and beacons.* Install, maintain, and repair traffic control devices and equipment;* Operate heavy equipment and hand tools;* Install, splice, and terminate electrical cable and communication cables;* Interpret and apply construction drawings and construction standards involving signalized intersections;* Rotating on call for response to emergency calls at night and on weekends to troubleshoot and repair traffic control devices;* Train on all Traffic Signal Technician essential functions;* Perform related duties as required.Graduation from high school or the GED equivalent with an additional six months to one year experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical or electronic equipment or general construction; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following:Valid Current Driver's LicensePhysical Exam RequiredAbility to Obtain Texas Commercial Driver's License after hire* Critical Infrastructure: This position has been determined to have close contact with, or control of Critical Infrastructure components. This position is subject to extensive background checks and random drug screening. *Knowledge of:* Operation of all types of equipment used to install and maintain traffic control devices and equipment;* Personal computers and software including electronic mail, record-keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheets, and graphics.Ability to:* Communicate with others effectively;* Work high above ground and perform strenuous work under emergency and all weather conditions;* Operate bucket truck, boom truck, backhoe, trencher, concrete saw, hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.Physical Requirements:* Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and carry up to 100 pounds in order to load and transport materials and equipment;* Frequently walk and stand during the shift;* Frequently climb ladders, stairs, and inclined surfaces;* Frequently bend and kneel;* Frequently push and pull objects when installing underground cable and overhead communication cable;* Frequently flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially flex at the knees;* Frequently rotate upper trunk to the right or left while sitting or standing;* Frequently reach above, at, or below shoulder height;* Coordinate eye, hand, and foot movement in order to operate a vehicle.
