We Require
- Three years of experience in traffic signal maintenance and repair or a closely related field
- High school diploma or GED
- A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis
- Must possess or can obtain a valid Arizona Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) within six months of hire
- OSHA-approved Aerial Lift Certification within six months of hire
- Must obtain a Traffic Signal Level II IMSA certification and Level I Roadway Lighting certification within two years of hire

Job Contributions
- Complete preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair malfunctioning traffic signal intersections and ITS equipment
- Technicians are required to be on call each month, respond to traffic signal callouts in a timely manner, and perform emergency repairs
- Repairs consist of replacing faulty/damaged wiring and signal/ITS equipment and ensuring the signal is operating at optimal efficiency for the safety of drivers and pedestrians
- Review plans and specifications to ensure that traffic signals are built according to MCDOT/Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) standards, and work with contractors to provide technical information and solutions to problems
- Follow all safety procedures; use personal protective equipment (PPE) and practices per MCDOT policy
- Complete daily maintenance and trouble call-out documentation on Cartegraph (operations asset management software)
- Respond to daily AZ811 tickets to locate underground traffic signals and ITS fiber optics facilities
- Other job duties as assigned
Working Conditions
- Exerting 50 - 100 pounds occasionally, 10 - 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 - 20 pounds constantly
- Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, respiratory hazards, and noise and vibration
- Incumbent may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dust, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel
- The work will occur in an office and field environment. While performing the duties and responsibilities the employee may be exposed to loud noise, noxious odors, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, electricity, moving mechanical parts, varying weather conditions, and other related conditions and situations. Position is subject to atmospheric conditions: Fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation
