Job Location : Flower Mound,TX, USA
Installs, repairs, fabricates, and maintains all types of signs and markings in accordance with Town, state, and federal standards. Performs maintenance on equipment used within the division and complete work orders according to Town policy.
* Installs, repairs, maintains, and fabricates all regulatory, warning, construction, guide, and special signs in accordance with the Texas Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TMUTCD) and Federal Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).
* Completes daily reports on all field activities, dispatched calls, work orders, service requests, and provides information for cost analysis reports utilizing Cityworks computer work order system.
* Performs layout procedures for pavement markings such as thermoplastic, paint, and buttons; includes preparation work, e.g., grinding and sealer application; and applies to roadways using epoxy, approved adhesives, or applicable markings equipment.
* Sets out work zone for job site in accordance with the TMUTCD and MUTCD.
* Programs and deploys traffic counters, changeable message boards, and radar trailers, as necessary.
* Performs turning movement counts utilizing hand counter, as necessary.
* Constructs and installs traffic barricades at appropriate locations.
* Trims trees that are obstructing traffic signs.
* Utilizes the Standard Highway Sign Designs for Texas manual to fabricate signs.
* Identifies and reports visibility obstructions that pose traffic hazards.
* Maintains stock levels on trucks and restocks, as necessary.
* Maintains an inventory of maintenance and operational supplies, tools, equipment, etc., and services on a routine basis.
* Performs vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance of vehicle and equipment.
* Informs supervisor of potential hazards, problem areas, citizen inquires, and all work activities.
* Adheres to personnel, safety, and departmental policies and procedures.
* May be required to assist the Traffic Signals subdivision in the fabrication, installation, and maintenance of traffic signals.
* May be required to assist with special events in the areas of traffic control.
* Perform emergency on-call duty.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
* A High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required.
* Must possess a valid Texas Class C Drivers License.
* Must be able to obtain a valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver's License, with proper endorsements and without restrictions, within six (6) months from the date of hire. Your driving record must be in compliance with Town policy.
EDUCATION:
* Must obtain International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Signs & Pavement Markings Technician Level I certification within one (1) year of employment.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
* One (1) year of experience in signs and markings, transportation, or heavy construction is preferred, but not required.
Must submit to and pass a post-offer, non-regulated drug test and thorough background checks (including criminal history).KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
* General working knowledge of signs and markings installation.
* Ability to read and comprehend reference books and sign manuals.
* Ability to maintain good working relationships with employees, contractors, and the general public.
* Ability to work evenings and weekends, as needed, and respond within 30 minutes to an on-call or emergency callback.
Physical Abilities:
* Must be able to talk, read, see, walk, hear, and follow oral and written directives.
* Must have acceptable hand/foot/eye coordination to operate and repair equipment and vehicles.
* Must be able to perform strenuous physical activities to include, exerting up to 100 lbs. of pressure; lift, push, pull, and carry heavy objects and supplies up to 100 lbs. several times a day; shovel; crawl; bend; kneel; dig holes for several hours per day; climb on and off equipment; and operate vibrating equipment.
* Must be able to work indoors, underground, outdoors, in confined spaces, in trenches, on level, slippery, sloping, unstable, and muddy terrain, and under constantly noisy conditions; and work in adverse environmental conditions to include inclement weather such as rain, sleet, snow, heat, sun exposure, and hazardous conditions such as mechanical, fume odor, dust/mist, chemical; and exposure to insects, noxious plants, and snakes.
