Job Title: Traffic and Logistics Specialist

Location: Houston, TX

Type of Role: Contract, 4 months w/ potential to extend

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Traffic and Logistics Specialist for one of our clients. The ideal candidate will manage and optimize the movement of goods, ensuring efficient transportation, timely deliveries, and adherence to regulations and company policies. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and oversee the transportation of goods and materials to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Optimize logistics operations including routing, scheduling, and load optimization to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
  • Monitor shipments, tracking progress and addressing any delays or disruptions promptly.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, such as procurement, sales, and warehouse staff, to maintain seamless operations.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and international transportation regulations, as well as company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments, inventory, and logistics expenses.
  • Analyze logistics data and generate reports to recommend improvements in processes and procedures.
  • Develop strong relationships with carriers, vendors, and other partners to negotiate contracts and secure favorable terms.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or 5 years of experience in a logistics role.
  • Proven experience in traffic and logistics management or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, logistics software (e.g., TMS), and supply chain principles.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software tools.
