JOB SUMMARY

The Traffic Supervisor is responsible for providing supervision and direction to the traffic team, as well as, scheduling and dispatching routes, picking-up client samples, maintaining an account of company property, and performing courier and clerical support duties. The Supervisor will oversee a team of Courier Drivers who provide pick-up services, as well as routine and non-routine samplings to clients throughout their designated region.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide first line supervision for our team of couriers.
  • Maintain courier programs and ensure adherence to process and procedures.
  • Provide training and performance expectations for team members - e.g. SOP's, sampling plans and techniques (aseptic, coring, collection, swabbing,) proper sanitation and sample storage, etc.
  • Ensure couriers maintain the highest level of professionalism and customer service.
  • Plan and schedule pick-up routes to ensure efficient services to our clients.
  • Review courier work product to ensure that collections and deliveries are completed according to specification requirements; Certified, Client, and FDA Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Assess current courier policy and practices and determine best practice.
  • Maintain vehicle and all other property of Certified Laboratories assigned to couriers.
  • Maintain Enterprise Fleet maintenance and gas receipt records.
  • Keep accurate records of vehicle maintenance to ensure timely and routine preventive maintenance.
  • Audit vehicle service and maintenance records to make sure vehicles are maintained in a clean roadworthy condition.
  • Report to Traffic Manager, any and all problems with vehicle or assigned equipment.
  • Periodically drive routes and pick-up samples from clients using Certified Laboratories Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Schedule and conduct operational meetings with Administrative and Laboratory supervisors.
  • Maintain on-going communication with team members.
  • Schedule and conduct monthly individual courier meetings and weekly department meetings.
  • Complete 30-day and 90-day performance reviews and conduct annual performance reviews.
  • Responsible for clearing exceptions, updating timecards in Paycom.
  • Other duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Associates degree with driving/courier experience.
  • Logistics, routing, and map reading skills.
  • Experience in a laboratory and/or logistics is a plus.
  • Three to four years proven experience of supervising and training a team.
  • Aptitude for technology and innovation
  • Ability to routinely lift (up to) 60-pound boxes.
  • Must be able to multi-task.

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and to handle other communications/computer components
  • Potential exposure to odors, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, and microbiological pathogens
  • Noise level varies from quiet to loud
  • Temperature varies from hot to cold
  • Color vision and depth perception
  • Interactive and fast-paced team oriented tasks
  • Overnight Travel may be required at the discretion of management
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
