RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role will help shape the future of our Retail talent by being at the forefront implementing our Retail Talent Development strategy. In partnership with another regional training manager, the role is responsible for developing, integrating, and upskilling our Retail teams. This includes interns, early career hires, tenured individual contributors, and experienced new hires.

A key player on the team, this role will design and implement critical learning programs in sales, sales strategy, marketing, and onboarding for the Retail division. This includes building curriculum to support capabilities development including, but not limited to basic selling; territory, category, and brand management; consumer, shopper, and brand analytics skills; and sales, sales strategy, and marketing technology systems.

The role requires collaboration with mentors, leaders, and senior executives to ensure practical, on-the-job learning for our teams, continuously gathering feedback, and optimizing our programs to meet evolving business needs.

  • Develops and implements all aspects of the Retail sales development program (12-month PDP training program) for Retail sales early career team members.
  • Provides feedback and coaches team members throughout the talent development program on learning opportunity assignments and concepts related to basic selling; territory, category, and brand management; consumer, shopper, and brand analytics; sales, sales strategy, and marketing enablement systems; and the Delta Associates certification process.
  • Oversees the progress of the talent development programs for all new team members to include assignment review, tracking, feedback, coaching, and prescriptive development as needed.
  • Develops and manages the internship program and all associated learning opportunities.
  • Proactively communicates with team members people leaders, directors, and senior leaders with feedback on team members skill development as observed during talent development programs.
  • Develops, coordinates, facilitates, and hosts Retail Talent Development workshops.
  • Utilizes forecasted workforce data to build and advise Retail senior leadership on early career hiring and location plans for the upcoming fiscal year.
  • Identifies and develops learning content, including, but not limited to presentations, participant and quick reference guides, and eLearning.
  • Manages learning technology, and sales, sales strategy, and marketing enablement platforms that help assess and identify Retail team member capabilities.
  • Makes recommendations to the Learning & Talent Development Manager (Retail) on learning opportunity improvements for new team members as necessary to address business needs. This requires staying at the forefront of industry trends and technology.
  • Travel to field offices to coach and mentor team members.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • Bachelors degree in business administration, marketing, business analytics or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience designing, developing, and implementing effective learning programs in a corporate setting.
  • 2+ years of experience in sales, sales strategy, marketing or related field.
  • Ability to travel 50% travel of the time is required.
  • Strong written, verbal communication, and public speaking skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Experience in needs assessment and performance gap analysis.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills with demonstrated ability to influence, coach, and motivate others.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven initiative and accountability, aligning with our Results Matter cultural beliefs.
  • Thrive in a dynamic, evolving environment with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful, permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with sales and consumer insights platforms (e.g., Circana, ShopperSights, Profitero, Walmart Luminate, 84.51, etc.).
  • Delta Associates Business Insights Black Belt Level 1 Certification (formerly Delta Bronze).

Pay Range & Benefits:

At Hormel Foods, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base hiring pay range for this role is between $81,000 - $113,600 per year, and your actual base pay within that range will depend upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and geographic market location.
