This position serves as the lead transfer evaluator for incoming transfer students. Additionally, it works with incoming transfer students to help determine their degree completion paths and timelines. The Transfer Degree Specialist supports incoming transfer students and degree completion functions within the Office of the Registrar, aligning with Longwood University's mission and strategic initiatives to increase retention and graduation rates. This position also serves as an additional NCAA transfer evaluator and is responsible for transfer evaluations, low-level advising for incoming transfer students, degree completion audits, and final degree certification. The Transfer Degree Specialist assists the University Registrar and Senior Associate Registrars as needed.Essential Responsibilities and Duties:* Serve as the lead Degree Planning and Completion Advisor for incoming transfer students, including evaluating unofficial transcripts and working with students on their degree completion paths and timelines.* Ensure transfer credit is processed promptly, identify opportunities for transfer credit equivalencies and substitutions, and advocate for these to optimize incoming transfer students' paths toward efficiently completing their degree requirements.* Advocate on behalf of transfer students with faculty and identify appropriate substitutions for degree completion to keep students on track for graduation.* Serve as an additional NCAA transfer credit evaluator. Assess prospective athletes' transfer credit and determine potential degree requirements that could be satisfied.* Assist in the preparation for, and participate in, the rotation for the NCAA Compliance Summit.* Assist the Senior Associate Registrar in maintaining transfer equivalencies in Banner and TES.* Assist in keeping all policies and procedures up to date, and propose changes to streamline them while ensuring they remain student-focused.* Ensure system testing is completed promptly and within the given deadlines.* Serve as a backup degree completion specialist for all majors, including responsibilities such as processing degree applications, managing substitutions, monitoring compliance with the 125% state regulation, final certification of degrees for cohorts, and communicating with students, faculty, and department chairs.* Provide superior customer service to campus constituents via phone, email, or in-person to ensure their needs are met.* Assist with commencement preparation and ceremony.* Performs other duties as assigned by the University Registrar and Sr. Associate Registrar.* Other duties as assigned.Job Requirements:* Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.* Five or more years of direct experience in related tasks within a Registrar's Office or institution of higher education, with knowledge of higher education principles, practices, regulations, and processes preferred.* Experience in transfer evaluation processes preferred.* Experience in NCAA rules and regulations preferred.* Strong customer service/interpersonal skills.* Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, work under pressure, and be a team player.* Strong verbal communication skills, including the ability to give regular presentations to both large and small audiences.* Ability to adapt communication messages to suit the audience.* Demonstrated ability to excel in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.* Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.* Work experience in Banner or another student information system preferred.Additional Information:This position is a full-time, administrative and professional, exempt position.
