The Transportation Clerk is responsible for reviewing the accuracy of shipment information for all inbound shipments from vendors to the Distribution Center. They ensure all loads are correct, ready to be received, and then added to the DC's unload plan. They also perform various tasks in support of the transportation department.
- Identifies correct Advance Ship Notices (ASN's) for each Purchase Order (PO) on an inbound shipment. Works with corporate and DC departments as needed for ASN error resolution.
- Verifies shipment accuracy by comparing Advance Ship Notices (ASN's) to Transportation Management System (TMS) data. Researches and resolves discrepancies as needed.
- Updates the DC Unload Report daily with required information.
- Supports Transportation Coordinators with creating vendor shipments in the TMS as needed.
- Monitors the Delivery and Trailer Log reports to confirm all inbound shipments are delivered and that the shipment status has been updated by carriers to delivered .
- Works with Routing Coordinators to ensure shipment dates are accurate in the TMS.
- Produces other department reports as needed.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior transportation/traffic or Distribution Center experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with Shoe Carnival's internal databases a plus; or ability to learn.
- Strong computer skills, to include Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word.
- Strong communication skills to include oral, written, and interpersonal.
- Ability to proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.
- Possess a strong attention to detail and follow-up.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize efficiently.
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with cross-functional teams of internal and external partners.
