We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead our Roadway Design projects. This role calls for a skilled leader with a strong technical background in civil engineering, capable of managing complex roadway design projects from start to finish. The ideal candidate has over 10 years of experience in roadway design and project management, particularly within the transportation, municipal, and water resources sectors.
Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of roadway design projects to ensure they meet client expectations, timelines, and budgets.
- Lead, mentor, and guide a team of engineers and designers, providing technical oversight, support for professional growth, and performance management.
- Conduct preliminary studies, site evaluations, and feasibility analyses to assess project viability and develop conceptual designs.
- Prepare comprehensive engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates, covering elements such as geometric design, cross sections, and construction details.
- Execute key design tasks, including geometry design, erosion and sediment control, construction staging, drainage calculations, pavement marking/signage, and development of special provisions.
- Review and provide technical oversight for roadway design submissions created by junior engineers and external consultants.
- Conduct quality control reviews of work performed by both junior and peer senior engineers to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards.
- Offer technical support during the construction phase, addressing design-related inquiries and helping to resolve roadway-specific challenges.
- Mentor junior engineers, providing technical expertise and supporting their professional growth.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience in roadway design.
- P.E. license in D.C., MD, or VA.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver complex transportation engineering projects on time, within budget, and meeting client requirements.
- Strong leadership skills and an ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent organization and time management abilities to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills for conveying technical information to a wide range of audiences.
- Experience with regional projects, particularly with DDOT, VDOT, MDOT, and others in Virginia and Maryland.
- Proficiency in software applications such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, Synchro, and/or Vissim.
$140k - $185k base.
Discretionary merit-based bonus and annual raise.
