Job Summary:The Trauma-Informed Yoga Coach is responsible for facilitating therapeutic yoga sessions tailored to individuals who have experienced trauma. This role emphasizes creating a safe, inclusive, and healing-centered environment that supports physical, emotional, and psychological well-being. The coach will integrate trauma-sensitive principles, mindfulness, and breathwork while fostering empowerment, choice, and body awareness for participants.Key Responsibilities:Facilitation & Instruction:Design and lead trauma-informed yoga sessions that accommodate diverse physical abilities and emotional needs.Utilize grounding techniques, breathwork, and mindful movement to support emotional regulation.Offer modifications and adaptive poses to ensure accessibility and safety.Encourage body autonomy by providing options and avoiding directive or overly structured language.Refrain from hands-on adjustments unless explicitly consented to by participants.Trauma-Informed Care & Safety:Create a welcoming, non-judgmental, and supportive space where participants feel in control of their experience.Recognize signs of trauma responses and adapt sessions to minimize potential triggers.Maintain awareness of trauma-sensitive communication styles, including choice-based language.Uphold confidentiality and respect participants' boundaries and personal experiences.Collaboration & Support:Work closely with therapists, social workers, and other multidisciplinary team members to integrate yoga as a complementary healing modality.Participate in team meetings, case consultations, and wellness program development.Provide education on trauma-informed movement to staff, residents, or clients as needed.Documentation & Program Development:Track participation and progress while maintaining confidential records in accordance with organizational policies.Assist in developing trauma-informed movement resources and curriculum enhancements.Contribute to the evaluation and improvement of trauma-informed yoga programs.Qualifications:Certification in Yoga (RYT-200 or higher preferred).Additional certification or training in Trauma-Informed Yoga, Somatic Experiencing, or Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is highly desirable.Experience working with individuals who have experienced trauma, including those in mental health treatment, addiction recovery, or residential care settings.Understanding of trauma theory, nervous system regulation, and body-based healing approaches.Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to foster trust and rapport.Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.Commitment to cultural humility and inclusive practices.Preferred Qualifications:Background in mental health, social work, psychology, or alternative therapies.Experience facilitating yoga in clinical, correctional, or residential treatment settings.CPR and First Aid certification required.Work Environment & Physical Demands:Ability to lead movement-based activities in a variety of settings (indoor, outdoor, group, and individual sessions).May require lifting, stretching, and demonstrating poses throughout class.Some evening or weekend availability may be required based on participant needs.Compensation & Benefits:Hourly Rate Based on ExperienceOpportunities for professional development and continuing education in trauma-informed practices.Flexible schedule and potential for program expansion.PI0deb7e9fb7f6-25660-#######2
