The CT Tech works closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure that patients receive accurate, timely, and safe imaging services. They operate CT equipment, prepare patients for procedures, and ensure proper documentation while maintaining patient care and safety standards.nKey Responsibilities:nnnPatient Preparation and Care:nnGreet and assess patients to determine the appropriate CT scan procedure based on their medical history and physician's orders.nExplain the CT procedure to patients, addressing any questions or concerns to ensure comfort and cooperation.nPosition patients properly to ensure accurate imaging while ensuring their comfort and safety.nMonitor patient condition during the scan, ensuring they remain still and follow instructions.nnnnCT Scanning and Equipment Operation:nnOperate CT machines to capture high-quality diagnostic images.nAdjust settings on the CT scanner as needed to obtain the best image quality for the specific procedure.nAdminister contrast agents as required for certain imaging exams, ensuring patient safety and proper protocols are followed.nMaintain and troubleshoot CT equipment to ensure it is functioning correctly and perform quality control checks.nnnnCollaboration with Medical Team:nnWork closely with radiologists and physicians to ensure proper image quality and to provide any additional scans or follow-up imaging as requested.nCommunicate effectively with the healthcare team regarding patient conditions, test results, and any issues encountered during the scanning process.nAssist in guiding the patient through the process and providing post-scan instructions, including follow-up care or next steps if necessary.nnnnDocumentation and Record-Keeping:nnEnsure accurate patient information is recorded in the system, including medical history, imaging results, and procedure notes.nComplete imaging requisitions and maintain electronic health records (EHR) in compliance with hospital policies and regulations.nTrack and log contrast usage, patient allergies, and any adverse reactions.nnnnSafety and Infection Control:nnFollow radiation safety protocols and minimize exposure to both patients and staff.nUse appropriate protective equipment, such as lead aprons, when necessary.nAdhere to infection control practices and maintain a clean and sterile environment in the CT room.nEnsure that all safety checks, such as equipment calibration and contrast administration, are followed to prevent adverse events.nnnnPatient Education and Support:nnProvide instructions to patients on what to expect before, during, and after the CT scan.nAddress any patient anxiety or concerns, providing reassurance and ensuring their comfort throughout the process.nExplain the importance of the CT procedure and follow-up actions, as needed.nnnnMaintenance and Quality Control:nnPerform regular maintenance checks on CT equipment, reporting any issues to the appropriate personnel for repairs or adjustments.nAdhere to protocols for ensuring the quality of images meets the required standards.nParticipate in continuing education and training to stay current with new imaging technologies, techniques, and safety practices.nnnnQualifications:nnEducation:nnAssociate's degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.nCompletion of a formal CT training program is preferred.nnnLicensure and Certification:nnCurrent certification in Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or equivalent.nCertification in CT (ARRT-CT) preferred or required within a specified period after hire.nCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.nnnExperience:nnPrevious experience as a CT Technologist is preferred, but new graduates with clinical training may also be considered.nnnSkills:nnKnowledge of CT scanning techniques, equipment, and radiation safety protocols.nStrong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality images.nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, healthcare professionals, and team members.nAbility to handle patients with various needs and conditions in a calm and professional manner.nnnWellspring Nurse Source Job ID #30607924.
