License: Not specified Certifications: Not specified Must-Have: Proficiency in Excel and Electronic Medical Records, experience in scanning documents into an Electronic Health Record Job Description: - Compile health information such as reviewing, cataloging, and checking medical reports for completeness. Organize medical reports for placement in files, and review charts to ensure all reports and signatures are present. - Type health information forms, prepare charts for new admissions, fill out forms, and prepare requests for specific reports or certificates. - Compile and type statistical reports such as daily and monthly census, Medicaid days, admissions, discharges, or length of stay. - File reports into health information records, record information in logs, and file and retrieve health information records in the filing system. - Provide information from health information records after determining the appropriateness of requests. - Coordinate with other departments regarding health information records procedures. Major Worker Characteristics: - Knowledge of health information technology, regulations governing medical record keeping, confidentiality requirements of patient information, and medical terminology. - Skill in using a typewriter and/or word processor and calculator. - Ability to deal with problems involving few variables within a familiar context, write routine business letters, evaluations, or records following standard procedures, proofread medical reports and recognize errors, recognize when medical records information is missing, and gather, collate, and classify information about data, people, or things.
