Job Title: Registered Nurse - GI Lab / Endoscopy Job Specialty: Gastrointestinal Lab / Endoscopy Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day/Evening 06:30 AM-03:00 PM or 08:00 AM-04:30 PM, variable based on the unit's needs. Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: Not specified License: Registered Nurse license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Endoscopy training/experience or specialized in Endoscopy Job Description: - Assume responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated timeframe. - Provide patient care through therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and collaboration with other healthcare team members. - Perform ongoing and systematic assessment/data collection focusing on physiological, psychological, and cognitive status of patients. - Analyze assessment data to determine appropriate nursing diagnoses. - Identify expected outcomes individualized to the patient. - Formulate a goal-directed plan of care, prioritize and base plans on determined nursing diagnoses and patient outcomes. - Identify patient and significant other learning needs and implement appropriate measures to meet these needs. - Implement care in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner. - Conduct timely, accurate, and concise documentation duties on the unit and in patient records. - Evaluate effectiveness of self, care provided by healthcare team members, and the contribution of systems, environment, and instrumentation in progressing patients toward outcomes. - Function with an awareness and application of safety issues. - Perform efficiently in emergency situations, remaining calm, informing appropriate personnel, and documenting events. - Demonstrate sound knowledge base and actions in patient care and decision-making for designated populations. - Follow applicable policies and procedures. - Consistently incorporate hourly rounding into daily practice. - Demonstrate self-responsibility and accountability for professional practices. - Demonstrate awareness of legal issues in patient care and strive to manage situations in a risk-reduced manner. - Maintain appropriate knowledge and skills required by the assigned unit. - Participate actively in staff development activities. - Establish effective working relationships with healthcare team members, patients, and significant others. - Remain flexible in staffing patterns and resolve staffing conflicts. - Demonstrate awareness and sensitivity to patient/significant others' rights. - Make decisions and take actions on behalf of patients ethically. - Stay updated with current nursing research and implement findings as applicable. - Establish priorities of patient care based on essential needs and available resources of time, personnel, equipment, and supplies. - Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare providers to deliver care. - Demonstrate effective communication skills and use lines of authority appropriately. - Work with both outpatient and inpatient populations across multiple campuses and take calls for Endoscopy. Note: OR nurses with Endoscopy training or experience are also considered for this position.
