Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: Emergency Room (ER) Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour nights, every other weekend, 2 out of 3 major holidays Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required to submit Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Cerner experience preferred Job Description: - Manager interviews are required; this position is not for first-time travelers. - Unit includes 33 total patient care rooms, with 25 rooms equipped with cardiac monitors. - Staff includes midlevel practitioners and RNs or LVNs in the triage area with 2 triage bays. - Nurse-patient ratios are 1 to 4, with an average patient volume of 210. - Charge Nurse is available 24/7. - ER Techs with EMT, MA, or CNA experience perform tech duties and EKGs. - GE telemetry system with central monitor stations in both nurses' stations. - Vents are managed by Respiratory Therapists, available 24/7. - In-house pharmacy support is available 24/7 with Omnicell. - ER nurses do not float outside the ER. - Orientation for the floor includes up to 6 shifts with a preceptor. - The hospital handles routine ER patients but sends out STEMIs, hemorrhagic strokes, and pediatric cases. - Must have strong documentation skills; follows the Emergency Medical Treatment & Labor Act (EMTALA). - Cancellations may occur up to 3 times per contract, which may be full or partial shifts. - Navy blue scrubs are required; undershirts must be navy, white, or black.
