Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour nights, including 2 weekends every 4 weeks and 2 out of 3 major holidays Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required for submission Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Strong IV skills, ability to read and interpret own telemetry strips Job Description: - Medical Solutions Clinical Team will pre-screen all candidates. - Candidates may be deployed to the Emergency Department (ED) to care for boarded ICU patients or work directly in the ICU. - ICU nurses may float to Medical-Surgical and Telemetry floors, taking 4 or 5 patients. - The ICU has 20 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1 to 2. - Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system used: Cerner. - Each shift has a charge nurse who does not take patients and serves as a resource. - No nurse aides provided. - Weekend requirement includes 2 weekends every 4 weeks. - Alternating major holiday requirement. - Scrub color: Navy. - Respiratory therapists manage ventilators and are available 24/7. - Internal medicine staff is available in-house 24/7, with pulmonologists acting as intensivists. - Must be comfortable managing vents and the ABCDE bundle. - Floor-specific orientation includes 2 shifts in the ICU and 1 unit outside. - Common patient diagnoses include sepsis, DKA, hyperglycemia, PN, COPD, PCI cardiac services, CVA, with no neuro cases; ICU patients will recover from surgery in the ICU. - Proficiency with Propofol, norepinephrine, and GI bleed management. - Hospital may cancel up to 3 shifts per contract; cancellations could be a full or partial shift. - Must be comfortable with floating and handling a full patient load.
