Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery/Well-Baby Nursery/Postpartum Job Specialty: Labor & Delivery/Well-Baby Nursery/Postpartum Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights, Every Other Weekend, First to Float Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM), BLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Must-Have: - Postpartum and Labor & Delivery experience - Ability to manage and run deliveries independently - Teamwork-oriented Job Description: - Work in a combined unit of Labor & Delivery, Well-Baby Nursery, and Postpartum with 10 beds - Maintain patient ratios following AWHONN guidelines, typically 1 to 1-2 for Labor & Delivery and 1 to 4 for postpartum couplet care - Utilize Cerner EMR and Fetal Link for fetal heart monitoring - Participate in floor-specific orientation for 2-3 days - Handle common diagnoses and patient types including high-risk deliveries, post-op gynecological surgery, and twin deliveries - Care for drug-affected infants undergoing withdrawal protocols - Self-schedule within a framework to ensure coverage; schedules created 30-45 days in advance - Participate in the facility's weekend requirement with every other weekend duty - Work under a charge nurse who will also take patient assignments - Collaborate without the support of nurse aides and minimal pharmacy hours - May float to MedSurg or CCU rarely and only if desired - No requirement to scrub in for C-sections, OR handles those needs - Contribute to a dynamic team ensuring thorough patient care and adherence to health guidelines and protocols - Engage with a team that includes 4 OB/GYNs and 2 midwives, and work within a structure without an in-house neonatologist - Partake in a work environment that encourages professional growth and cross-disciplinary collaboration
