Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: Medical / Surgical Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 3x12 Hr Guaranteed Hours: 36.00 hours per week Experience: One year of experience preferred License: - State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) Certifications: - American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification Must-Have: - Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty - Proficiency in EPIC system - ACLS certification Job Description: - Assume responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the healthcare team and the patient/family to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient. - Promote optimal health, well-being, and safety of the patient through the use of the nursing process in accordance with patient care standards and guidelines. - Demonstrate personal accountability for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values. - Assess patient's physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, medical records, and clinical data review. - Evaluate patient responses and intervene to ensure optimal patient outcomes. - Develop and implement patient care plans and observe outcomes in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. - Demonstrate competency in a variety of therapeutic/diagnostic interventions including IVs, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collection. - Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect the health, safety, and rights of each patient. - Provide patient/family education by assessing learning readiness, needs, and ability, and evaluate teaching effectiveness. - Recognize the patient or designee as a full partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for the patient's preferences, values, and needs. - Deliver care with respect for cultural differences and human experience diversity. - Delegate to non-RN personnel in accordance with nursing board and hospital policy. - Use time, personnel, equipment, and supplies effectively to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care. - Serve as a professional role model, demonstrating ethical/legal/professional nursing processes. - Manage resources and patient flow by matching nursing competencies with individual patient and unit needs. - Use standards of care, hospital policies, and regulatory guidelines to guide practice. - Function effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication and mutual respect to achieve quality patient care. - Precept/mentor new staff or nursing students as needed. - Seek learning opportunities and continuing education to maintain skills and competence. - Maintain professional records demonstrating competency and lifelong learning. - Evaluate own integrity and practice in relation to professional standards and guidelines, and take action to achieve goals identified during the evaluation process. Note: Floating may be required within a 60-mile radius or as per the identified float zone, which may include duties outside of original assignment job requirements in accordance with policy.
