Job Duties
- Manage the overall nursing care provided, ensuring competent, compassionate, and cost-effective patient care from admission to discharge.
- Ensure the safety, comfort, personal hygiene, and protection of patients, while performing disease prevention and restorative measures.
- Respond to medical and environmental emergencies effectively.
Job Accountabilities
- Provide competent, compassionate, and cost-effective patient care in accordance with hospital policies and standards of care.
- Plan and coordinate care delivery to maximize efficiency and ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Serve as a liaison between nursing and medical staff, facilitating a collaborative approach to patient care.
- Exercise clinical judgment and critical thinking in all aspects of the nursing process.
- Administer treatments and medications timely and accurately.
Assessment and Planning
- Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments, considering various factors including biophysical, psychosocial, and discharge planning needs.
- Develop and implement individualized patient care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
Education and Teaching
- Develop and implement teaching and discharge plans that involve patients and their families.
- Communicate treatments and activities clearly and compassionately.
Delegation and Coordination
- Delegate tasks effectively to team members based on their capabilities and legal scopes of practice.
- Coordinate communication among departments to ensure smooth patient care coordination.
- Supervise and direct the work of care partners, providing clinical input and performance evaluations.
Patient Advocacy and Professional Development
- Serve as a patient advocate, ensuring all patient needs are met.
- Act as a role model and clinical resource for staff and students.
- Identify personal performance goals and actively participate in professional development.
Skills and Knowledge
