Job Title: SSMH Level 2 RN ED Full TimeJob Specialty: ACUTE : LVL2RN : EmergencyJob Duration: 14 weeksShift: 3x12 hoursGuaranteed Hours: [Not specified]Experience: One year acute hospital experience as a registered professional nurseLicense: NYS RN LicensureCertifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, Stroke CertificationMust-Have: One (1) year of experience serving in an ER environment as a Registered NurseJob Description:- Applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills to deliver high-quality compassionate care to patients and families.- Assesses patient needs, identifies urgent or emergent care priority, and collaboratively provides direct care, applies appropriate interventions, and evaluates patient progress.- Demonstrates skill in the use of various invasive and non-invasive procedures, treatments, and therapeutic interventions appropriate to manage life-threatening and routine emergency situations.- Utilizes the principles of relationship-based care to alleviate anxiety, provide information, and address pain/discomfort and safety.- Assesses the physiological, psychosocial, emotional, and cultural needs of patients of all age groups, their families, and support systems as appropriate.- Connects with patient and family during triage. Assigns priority of care in accordance with Triage Standards as outlined in the ESI training.- Establishes rapport with patients and families, addresses comfort needs, listens carefully, assesses nonverbal communication, and provides frequent updates.- Conducts primary assessment of critical needs, detects and documents any major deviation from the norm for all age groups within acceptable time frames, and correctly identifies the necessary steps/interventions required.- Uses direct observation, patient/family interview, EMS report, and data to conduct secondary assessments.- Assesses the psychosocial needs of each individual, including family dynamics, and documents and reports any suspicion of domestic violence or abuse in all age groups.- Reassesses the patient to identify response to treatment and/or changes in condition and responds appropriately.- Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members to accomplish the best possible patient outcome.- Provides education and delegates tasks and interventions consistent with the individual's education, training, and scope of practice.- Prepares patient, parent, or family for diagnostic procedures and treatments and makes appropriate referrals for post-emergency care.- Teaches the patient what is needed for continued care/healing at home, assesses learning styles, and structures sessions to maximize understanding.- Evaluates retention of key points in education and discharge instruction.- Focuses on what is most important to the patient/family, acknowledging them as the central focus of all care and services.- Maintains awareness of the patient's condition throughout the ER visit, updating communication boards and informing patients and families of the process of care.
