Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: Medical-Surgical Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7:00 PM-7:30 AM Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: 2 years of Med Surg experience required; Experience floating to ICU required License: Valid state nursing license Certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA) Must-Have: COVID-19 vaccine (exemptions allowed) Job Description: - Work under the supervision of the unit Supervisor, Manager, or Director. - Deliver patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. - Provide direction and guidance for patient teaching and the activities of ancillary personnel. - Strive for superior performance by consistently contributing to the patient and family experience. - Assess the physical, psychological, and social dimensions, and educational needs of the patient on admission. - Identify patient needs and formulate a written care plan based on the initial assessment, initiating the plan within 24 hours of admission. - Implement the plan of care and document its effectiveness in the medical record, revising as necessary. - Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and their families. - Promote patient independence by teaching understanding of conditions, medications, and self-care skills. - Assure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards and hospital/nursing division's philosophies and standards. - Resolve patient problems using multidisciplinary team strategies. - Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies, medication administration, and controlled substance regulations. - Maintain continuity among healthcare teams by documenting and communicating patient needs and actions taken. - Utilize leadership skills by delegating, communicating with, and evaluating team members. - Recognize changes in patient status and provide appropriate interventions and documentation. - Conduct ongoing patient and family education based on daily assessment. - Prioritize care based on individual patient needs. - Initiate appropriate referrals to meet discharge needs in collaboration with case management. - Participate in in-service and continuing education activities to stay abreast of healthcare trends. - Attend a minimum of eight monthly staff meetings annually. - Communicate identified unit problems following the appropriate chain of command and actively engage in the problem-solving process. - Demonstrate job-related aspects of patient safety, ensuring a safe environment and effective use of equipment and technology. - Support and demonstrate knowledge of the hospital's mission, vision, values, standards, policies, and procedures. - Provide age-appropriate care based on the unit's policies and procedures. - Perform other duties as assigned. - Must be able to work every other weekend.
