**Job Title:** Acute Med/Surg Level 1 Registered Nurse**Job Specialty:** Acute: LVL1RN: Med/Surg**Job Duration:** 12 Months**Shift:** Rotational Day/Evening/Night/Weekends/Holidays; 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. / 6:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.**Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week (Full Time)**Experience:** Minimum one year experience in a Med/Surg environment as a Registered Nurse**License:** Current RN Licensure**Certifications:** BLS, ACLS, NYS RN Licensure**Must-Have:**- Current RN Licensure - BLS and ACLS certifications - Minimum one year experience in Med/Surg environment**Job Description:**- Deliver high-quality compassionate care to patients and families using nursing theory, technical, and communication skills.- Assess patient needs, develop a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, and provide direct care.- Evaluate patient progress and coordinate care delivery throughout the patient's episode.- Develop specialized skills in cardiac care including telemetry monitoring.- Offer patient and family education to assist with self-care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes for health and healing.- Apply nursing knowledge and skill to assess patient and family needs through active listening, social perceptiveness, and data analysis.- Create a developmentally appropriate, culturally relevant, individualized plan of care.- Collaborate with the patient, family, physician, and healthcare team to set goals and monitor patient progress.- Adapt plans based on patient response or changes in condition.- Advocate for and protect the health, safety, and rights of the patient.- Evaluate quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and implement Quality Improvement activities as needed.- Engage in self-evaluation of practice and pursue professional development.- Use logical reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches.- Demonstrate skill in nursing interventions including medication administration.- Encourage patient and family motivation and education for continued care and healing at home.- Assess learning styles and structure education sessions for maximum understanding.- Document education provided and patient/family response.- Foster mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members to achieve the best possible patient outcomes.- Delegate tasks and interventions appropriately based on education, training, and scope of practice.- Comply with infection prevention strategies and maintain competencies required for specific patient populations.- Report potential safety risks and questionable practices.- Promote leadership awareness and foster positive change.- Perform rounds per protocol and use tools and equipment to keep patient/family informed, engaged, and safe.- Build helping, trusting, and caring relationships through active engagement and presence.- Recognize the patient and family as the central focus of care and services.- Embrace the creation of a Healing Environment as a critical element of professional nursing practice.
