- General job duties, types of procedures required: To provide excellent care to mothers and their babies. To be able to perform the duties of Labor and Delivery, Postpartum and Nursery, as well as meeting the needs of outpatients.
- Equipment utilized in the unit: We use Healthland here at BRMH for our EMR, the OB dept. does not have a centralized monitoring system for laboring moms. We have Pyxis in our dept. for medications and each patient will have a medication drawer that is changed out each morning by pharmacy. Our fetal monitors are GE-Corometrics 250cx (2), and one 120 corometrics.
- Required skills and minimum years of experience: At least 2 years of Labor/delivery, postpartum, and nursery.
- Job Requirements
- Active WI or compact state license in good standing.
- At least 2 years of Labor/delivery, postpartum, and nursery experience.
- Schedule Information
- On the night shift, there would be a back OB RN available.
- Shifts: 0700-1530, 1500-2330, and 2300-0730.
- Unit Specific Information
- Bed size/number of rooms for this unit: 4 LDRP's, Triage room and 2 outpatient rooms.
- Nurse to patient ratio of this unit: 1:1 labor patient, 3:1 mom/baby pairs.
- New hires will begin in the Postpartum/Newborn area for 6 weeks, then will be trained in labor and delivery, as well as maintaining their level of competence with the mom/baby for the remainder of their orientation.
