Certifications Required:

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Current Fetal Heart Monitoring certification (to be completed within one year of hire)
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation certification (to be completed within one year of hire)
  • Current STABLE certification (to be completed within one year of hire)

Essential Skills:

  • Effective communication in English, both verbally and in writing

Position Overview:

As a Travel Nurse specializing in Obstetrics, you will provide exceptional direct and indirect patient care in the OB/GYN and nursery settings. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting assessments and planning individualized patient care.
  • Collaborating with physicians on patient condition and diagnostic study results.
  • Swiftly responding to changes in patient condition or treatment.
  • Participating in performance improvement activities.
  • Administering medications competently based on patient age and condition.
  • Performing neonatal resuscitation and care for laboring patients.
  • Conducting thorough head-to-toe assessments and regular reassessments.
  • Formulating and evaluating individualized care plans.
  • Providing clear communication with the charge nurse, co-workers, and physicians.
  • Coordinating and supervising patient care as needed.
  • Maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Assisting physicians with labor/delivery, gynecological, and newborn procedures.
  • Demonstrating flexibility and the ability to thrive in high-stress situations.
  • Treating patients and families with respect, addressing their psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs.
  • Involving patients and families in care plans and decisions.
  • Upholding professional relationships across departments.
  • Ensuring accurate documentation in compliance with current standards.
  • Operating medical equipment safely and correctly.
  • Conducting pain management assessments and educating patients and families.
  • Knowledgeably monitoring fetal heart rates, identifying patterns, and responding appropriately.
  • Actively participating in quality improvement initiatives and adhering to ethical business practices.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, and utilize hands.
  • Capacity to lift and manage various weights consistently.
  • Requires specific vision abilities including close vision and color discernment.

Work Environment:

  • Occasional exposure to mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, or chemicals.
  • Moderate noise levels.
