**Job Title:** Registered Nurse**Job Specialty:** Step Down - MED/SURG/TELE/PCU**Job Duration:** 13 weeks**Shift:** Day, 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:30)**Guaranteed Hours:** Not specified**Experience:** Preference for first-time travelers with PCU experience in 1:3-4 patient ratios**License:** Valid CA License**Certifications:** NIH, ACLS, BLS (AHA only)**Must-Have:** - Non-titrated cardiac drip management experience (Amiodarone, Milrinone, Lasix, Cardizem, dopamine, and dobutamine)- Experience with trachs and ventilator management- Weekend work requirement: minimum of 2 weekends/month**Job Description:**- Proficiency in management and interpretation of dysrhythmias- Telemetry monitoring on the unit- Utilize Rapid Response Teams effectively- Care for post-myocardial infarction patients- Feeding tube care and management- Manage pre/post-hemodialysis and renal failure patients- Expertise in accessing ports, central and peripheral line care/management- Proficient in managing cardiac and vasoactive drips without titration- Care for ventilated patients and those with chest tubes- Utilize external CPAP/BIPAP and high flow nasal cannula- Interpret ABGs and manage non-invasive airway management- Provide tracheostomy management and follow isolation precautions- Deliver wound care and manage wound vacs- Preferred experience with post-cardiac angiogram, IV insulin protocols, and titration of insulin and cardiac dripsThis position provides interpretation services, lift teams, pharmacy, phlebotomy, physical therapy, radiology, rapid response teams, respiratory services, social services, and unit secretary support within the facility. Navy scrubs are required but not provided. Floating may occur within areas of competency such as med/surg, tele, and observation units. The role involves using the Omnicell medication system and applying SBAR communication. The facility provides a 24-hour orientation period. Prior Meditech experience is preferred.
