Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: General, Dialysis, Mental Health Job Duration: 52 weeks Shift: Day 8:00 AM-4:00 PM Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: Not specified License: Registered Nurse (RN) Certifications: Infection Control Certification required; Wound Care Certification preferred Must-Have: Wound Care experience (can be substituted for Wound Care Certification) Job Description: - Provide professional nursing care to individuals in various settings, including hospitalized students, inmates, juvenile offenders, or consumers in state-owned/operated facilities. - Observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress of patients in the infirmary and outpatient clinics. - Conduct nursing rounds, take and record vital signs, and prepare and administer prescribed medications and treatments. - Monitor restrained patients on a timely basis and provide immediate medical attention during emergencies. - Schedule, assign, and review work of lower-level staff, participate in staff development, and educate new employees. - Manage healthcare for bedridden inmates, develop care plans, teach health care principles, and perform specialized procedures such as IV therapy, chemotherapy, wound care, dialysis, and more. - Organize and oversee emergency response ( code blue team) and direct healthcare staff within the assigned area. - Assist physicians in providing diagnostic health evaluations and perform clerical tasks such as charting and recording medications, treatments, and medical information. - Complete required reports, document relevant information, order supplies, and maintain inventory of controlled substances and equipment. - Arrange outpatient clinic appointments, medical examinations, and prescriptions as ordered by physicians. - Perform administrative tasks, serve as a liaison within the organization, conduct or attend meetings, and occasionally instruct or lead problem-solving teams. Major Worker Characteristics: - Knowledge of professional registered nursing procedures and state and federal regulations related to nursing. - Skilled in the operation of medical equipment. - Ability to handle abstract and concrete variables, write accurate reports, and classify information effectively. - Physical fitness to perform assigned duties.
