**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN)**Job Specialty:** Psychiatric Unit - Psych CPEP Management**Job Duration:** 13 Weeks**Shift:** 5 shifts of 8.5 hours with a 1-hour lunch**Guaranteed Hours:** 37.5 hours per week**Experience:** Minimum of 2 years of experience required; must have 1 year of psych experience. Preference for candidates with some medical experience and de-escalation expertise. **License:** Active RN License required for submission**Certifications:** BLS, ACLS, PALS, CPI preferred (willing to train if needed)**Must-Have:** Psychiatry with Med-Surg experience**Job Description:**- Oversee the care of patients with severe mental illnesses and behavioral issues such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, and anxiety. - Manage medically stable patients with potential comorbidities, transferring medically unstable patients as needed.- Administer medications, primarily IM injections and PO psychotropics such as Haldol, Zyprexa, and Ativan—no IVs required.- Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6-12, depending on acuity, with a staffing structure of 2 triage RNs, 4 RNs for adults, 1 RN for pediatrics/adolescents, and a charge nurse.- Collaborate with a team of physicians including 3 psych physicians during the day, 1 psych physician, and 1 resident at night, along with a medical physician per shift.- Ensure 24/7 security presence and coordination with on-site RTs for respiratory needs and treatments.- Coordinate with PCTs for phlebotomy, patient management, and transporting tasks, while managing cardiac rhythm recognition in emergency situations.- Complete a 3-week orientation program, which includes 1 week in-classroom, 1 week on inpatient units, and 1 week on the assigned unit.- Take on a leadership role, focusing on enhancing employee engagement, reducing potentially reportable events, and relationship management.- Demonstrate knowledge and skills in performance improvement and quality assurance programs. - Adhere to weekend and holiday rotational requirements, with flexibility for floating to inpatient units if needed.- Wear royal blue scrubs.**Additional Information:**- No on-call or standby requirement.- Use the Altera electronic health record system, previously known as Allscripts, for day-to-day operations, and Cerner for blood draws and transfusions.- No unit-specific orientation hours required upon hire.
