RN (Registered Nurse) - Stepdown UnitLocation: Bronx, NY

Position Details:

• Unit Type: Stepdown (PCU)
• Shift Length: 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
• Guaranteed Hours: 34.5 hours per week
• Start Date: 02/04/2025
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks

Unit Overview:

• Number of Beds: 36
• Nurse-Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Common Diagnoses: Post-ICU care, post-shock, post-stroke, pneumonia, CHF, post-cardiac arrest, respiratory failure (weaning or tracheostomy preparation), infectious diseases, and more.
• Support Staff: PCTs for vitals, AM/PM care, restocking, EKGs, bladder scans, blood glucose monitoring, and errands.
• RT Equipment: Includes CPAP, BiPAP, ventilators, tracheostomies, high-flow oxygen, and other respiratory care equipment.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum of 1 year of ICU or PCU-Stepdown experience.
• Ventilator experience required.
• First-time travelers are accepted.
• Certifications Required: BLS and ACLS.
• Licensure: Active RN license required at the time of submission.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and titrate critical care drips (e.g., Nicardipine, pressors, fentanyl, insulin).
• Monitor and interpret telemetry, communicate findings, and coordinate interventions with physicians.
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy for equipment management and treatments.

Scheduling and Orientation:

• Orientation: Two days with a preceptor.
• Scheduling: Three 12-hour shifts per week; schedules prepared 4 weeks in advance. Flexibility required to accommodate staffing needs.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
• Holiday Requirement: Participation in the holiday rotation may be required.
