Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: Telemetry Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM Guaranteed Hours: To be discussed during the interview Experience: Minimum of 1 year preferred in the related nursing specialty License: RN License in the state of employment or compact Certifications: BLS and ACLS required Must-Have: Telemetry training Job Description: - Practice independently and demonstrate an awareness of all relevant aspects of a clinical situation. - Provide routine and complex care, focusing on long-range goals or plans. - Develop the ability to manage contingencies in clinical nursing. - Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers to help manage clinical situations. - Meet expectations of applicable core competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. - Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. - Address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families. - Administer medications and treatments using the appropriate protocol; monitor for side-effects and effectiveness. - Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided. - Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers. - Utilize critical thinking skills to assess the physical, psychosocial, social, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs of patients and families. - Communicate findings to appropriate healthcare team members. - Develop and use a specific plan of care, modifying it to meet individual patient needs using evidence-based practice. - Implement patient care and therapeutic procedures; monitor and document progression of treatment and teaching goals. - Evaluate the care and treatment(s) provided and the patient response to these. - Perform timely reassessment and documentation. - Anticipate and plan for admission/discharge/transfer needs to facilitate patient flow. - Utilize systems and tools to facilitate the discharge process. - Educate and train others on the operations, ethics, and regulations within the industry. - Promote a safe environment resulting in positive patient outcomes by incorporating patient safety guidelines. - Demonstrate accountability for nursing research and quality improvement activities. - Communicate patient information effectively across the continuum of care. - Ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; assess departmental staffing needs. - Educate patients on the appropriate use of home medical equipment. - Troubleshoot and evaluate incoming equipment. - Process medical orders accurately and ensure documentation accuracy. - Ensure patient safety and address safety inquiries from patients and family members.
