Travel Pathologists' Assistant - $2,542 per week - Geisinger Medical Center : Job Details

Certification Details PA (ASCP) required Job Details Shift Time: 9am-530pm This position is under the direct or indirect supervision of a Pathologist. Assists in the preparation and performance of human surgical-specimen dissections for microscopic examination, special procedures, and biospecimen banking. Performs human postmortem examinations, and assists the Pathologists in the implementation and monitoring of the Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement Program in Anatomic Pathology. Job Requirements 3 years of experience Experience with human surgical specimen dissection and human postmortem examinations Knowledge of obtaining pertinent clinical information and history, laboratory data, x-rays, and scans Skill in gross anatomic features description, dissection of surgical specimens, and postmortem prosection Ability to prepare and submit appropriate tissue sections for routine histologic processing and intraoperative procedures Competence in triaging biological samples for special procedures Proficiency in obtaining and processing tissues for BioSpecimen Banking as required Adept at photographing all pertinent specimens as directed by the Pathologist Ensures proper maintenance of equipment, provision of adequate supplies, and cleanliness of the surgical pathology suite Assists in the organization and coordination of Anatomic Pathology Conferences Schedule Information Shift: Days (United States of America) Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Unit Specific Information Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. Responsible for complying with all organization policies and procedures.
