Job Title: Retail Pharmacist Job Specialty: Pharmacist Job Duration: 13 months Shift: Days, Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Saturday rotation 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Required state license to practice pharmacy Certifications: Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited school; PharmD preferred Must-Have: Good communication skills, both written and verbal Job Description: - Provide prescribed medications, drugs, and other pharmaceuticals according to professional standards and practices. - Advise physicians on issues concerning drug therapy, including toxicity and side effects. - Assist in the prescription of appropriate doses and ensure adequate quantities of drugs and supplies are ordered and maintained. - Oversee non-pharmacist personnel involved in the medication use process. - Ensure prescription and medication orders are accurate, complete, and comply with all legal requirements. - Maintain relationships with medical and nursing staff, providing timely pharmaceutical information. - Conduct medication use reviews and assess patient compliance and outcomes. - Instruct patients in the proper use of prescribed drugs. - Individualize medication regimens and continually improve pharmaceutical care delivery. - Ensure medicinal products are stored securely to maintain inventory according to regulations. - Respond to medication-related queries and maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA. - Update and contribute to changes in drug knowledge and healthcare developments. - Write guidelines for drug use and implement related policies and procedures. - Provide budget and drug expenditure information. - Process cash and credit transactions, providing patients with proper receipts. - Attend meetings and participate in facility and community committees. - Mentor healthcare professionals in training, offering both practical and didactic experiences. - Perform monthly consulting for contracted long-term care facilities. - Perform other duties as needed by the facility.
