Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Endoscopy Technician (Endo Tech) to join our healthcare team. The Endo Tech will assist physicians and medical staff during endoscopic procedures, ensuring that all equipment is properly sterilized, functioning, and ready for use. The role requires proficiency in handling endoscopic instruments, maintaining a sterile environment, and supporting patients throughout their procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and set up the endoscopy procedure room by ensuring all endoscopic equipment, instruments, and supplies are sterile and ready for use.
  • Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures, passing instruments, managing equipment, and maintaining the sterile field.
  • Clean, disinfect, and sterilize endoscopic equipment, ensuring proper handling and storage in accordance with hospital protocols.
  • Monitor patient vitals and comfort during procedures, providing support to patients as needed.
  • Assist with patient positioning, ensuring their safety and comfort during the procedure.
  • Ensure proper documentation of procedures, including patient records, equipment used, and any observations relevant to the procedure.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain endoscopic equipment, notifying the appropriate staff of any malfunctions or maintenance needs.
  • Educate patients on the endoscopic procedure, providing clear instructions and answering questions as directed by the physician.
  • Adhere to all infection control and safety protocols to minimize the risk of contamination and ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Assist with post-procedure care, ensuring that patients are properly recovered and escorted to the appropriate recovery area.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other medical staff to ensure smooth operations and high-quality patient care during procedures.
  • Participate in maintaining inventory, ordering supplies, and ensuring the availability of necessary equipment for upcoming procedures.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or certification in Endoscopy Technology or related field preferred.
  • Certification as an Endoscopy Technician (CET) through a recognized certifying body (e.g., Board of Certified Ambulatory Surgery Technologists, BOC) is preferred.
  • Previous experience in endoscopy or a related healthcare field is preferred.
  • Knowledge of endoscopic instruments, sterilization techniques, and infection control standards.
  • Ability to assist physicians with endoscopic procedures, maintaining a sterile field and providing necessary support during operations.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to anticipate the needs of the surgical team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to put patients at ease and explain procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced, clinical environment.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and assist with patient mobility when needed.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Working Conditions:
