Job DetailsJob Location Excelsior Orthopaedics Remote Work - Amherst, NY Position Type Full Time Education Level 4 Year Degree Salary Range $27.32 - $49.18 Hourly Travel Percentage None Job Shift Day Triage NurseJob Summary Triage nurse is responsible for working with orthopaedic physicians and surgeons to provide telephonic nursing support to surgical and non-surgical patients. This individual will also respond to patient telephone calls and patient portal communications regarding treatment plan, medication refills, urgent concerns and overall assistance with plan of care. Additionally, this position maintains current accurate information for the physicians and mid-level providers in EMR (Medent). Duties and Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient's complete medical history and physical data.
  • Collaborate with multiple care teams having direct contact with physicians and physician assistants to determine appropriate course of action.
  • Provide patient education, advise patients on post-op care and expectations.
  • Respond to patient telephone calls and patient portal communications regarding treatment plans, medication refills, urgent concerns, overall assistance with plan of care, and facilitate response per physician protocol when required.
  • Chart accurately, concisely, descriptively, and legibly indicating patients progress in Medent.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequirements and Qualifications
  • Current NYS RN license.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Registered Nurse, experience in orthopedics preferred.
  • EMR experience required, Medent desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required to effectively exchange information with patients, providers, and staff.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, and Teams.
Physical Demands
  • Manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate equipment.
  • Corrected vision and hearing within normal range to observe and communicate with patients, providers, and staff.
  • Frequently remaining in a stationary position, often sitting for prolonged periods working on a computer, telephone, copy/fax machine, and other office equipment.
