Location : Columbia, MOJob Type: Full-timeJob Number: FY23-068Department: Workforce Development CenterOpening Date: 06/06/2023Description This position has responsibility for delivering instruction in all areas of truck driver training in accordance with college guidelines and current, approved industry standards. This position will also be responsible for maintaining compliance with applicable Federal standards set forth in the Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) regulations.This is a full-time, 12-month, salaried, exempt position with employee health and basic life insurance paid by the college. Qualifications The Truck Driver Training Instructor & Coordinator must have a minimum of five year's occupational experience directly related to truck driving and hold a current Class A CDL and safe driving record (no moving violations in the last 3 years, no chargeable accidents in last 2 years). Instructor must also complete and pass D.O.T. physical and drug test. The ability to provide instruction, establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, other professionals, staff and the public is required. Must possess ability to communicate effectively (written and oral) with a variety of people, including students, staff and general public. Job Responsibilities The Truck Driver Training Instructor & Coordinator shall:
Provide instruction in all areas of truck driver training, to include: pre-trip inspection, backing, driving, safety, etc.; Coordinate delivery of truck driver training program, including planning schedules, scheduling adjuncts as needed, etc.;Develop teaching methods as needed. Select appropriate texts and other course materials; Keep accurate and sufficient student records, including attendance (clock hours of instruction), grades, and completion dates;Recruit and advise potential students;Maintain compliance with applicable Federal standards set forth in regulations, and implement program changes as needed to ensure compliance;Prepare and submit reports as needed for state and federal reporting;Assist in the coordination of bids and preparation of requisitions for purchase orders of equipment, materials, and supplies;Participate in meetings, training, and professional development as required and as needed to assist with program deliverables and instruction;Carry out the policies developed by the Board of Trustees as executed and interpreted by the administration; Work with Workforce Development Center staff, Small Business Technology Development Center staff and other MACC departments in coordinating and promoting various center programs; andPerform other duties as assigned by the Director of Workforce Development, Dean of Workforce Development and Technical Education, or the College President. Additional Information Instructor working environment and conditions: Indoors in a normal classroom and/or outdoors or in trucks with some exposure to noise, dust, and weather conditions. Work involves working with classroom equipment as well as truck equipment and tools. The instructor frequently is required to stand and walk, get in and out of trucks or other vehicles, and is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
