Essential Duties or Responsibilities LEADERSHIP
  • Create and sustain a supportive College culture that engages employees, recognizes diversity, ensures equity, promotes inclusion, and creates a sense of belonging by fostering an environment of teamwork, accountability, communication and vision.
  • Represent the college in local and state organizations and meetings, and maintain contacts with outside agencies as appropriate.
  • ADMINISTRATION/MANAGEMENT/
  • Train Truck Driving courses as determined by the Vice-President of Academic Affairs, and Dean of Career and Technology, as needed in accordance with federal standards and demand of workforce training offerings.
  • Use a variety of methods and training strategies that reflect the different learning styles and needs of students.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and documentation of appropriate assessment activities as directed by the Vice-President of Academic Affairs and Dean of Career and Technology Programs. Utilize assessment results to improve training and learning in the classroom.
  • Recruitment, screening and counseling students for the truck driving program.
  • Familiarity with financial aid requirements, and other funding sources to assist students.
  • Foster relationships with recruiters from trucking companies for placement of graduates into externships and jobs.
  • Tracking graduates of the program for a five-year period.
  • ACCOUNTABILITY
  • Performing daily maintenance checks on vehicles.
  • Train at the scheduled class time.
  • Complete and submit grades, (Initial Progress grades (tenth day attendance), midterms and final grades), and other course related reports in a timely manner.
  • Remain current in knowledgeable of CDL requirements, IDOT requirements, and Illinois Driver's License Bureau procedures for testing.
  • FISCAL
  • Developing and monitoring the program budget. (Includes doing requisitions for expenses incurred)
  • OTHER
  • Perform other related duties which may be required by the Director of Business and Workforce Development (i.e. duties that may not be specifically listed in the class specification or position description, but are generally within the occupational series and responsibility level associated with the employee's class of work).
  • General work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. - 4:15 p.m. Evening or weekend hours may be required to participate in other college activities outside of regular working hours.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESTruck Driving Trainer Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    • High School diploma.
    • CDL class A license.
    • Current DOT medical card
    • Minimum of five (5) years of verifiable OTR experience.
    • Knowledgeable of federal motor carrier's regulations and testing procedures.
    Preferred:
    • Graduate of truck driving school.
    • Training and counseling experience in OTR operations or recruitment experience.
