Employment Requirements:
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.
  • Ability to read and understand simple diagrams, blueprints, and tape measure.
  • Ability to work 10-12 hours shifts and lift up-to 80 pounds.
  • Physically demanding role requiring good coordination, attention to detail, and teamwork.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Complete and successfully pass a Background check (minimum 7 years)
  • Complete and successfully pass a Controlled Substances Screening (drug test)

I n a components plant, particularly in the context of framing and trusses, a lumber catcher is responsible for catching or handling wood materials as they come off of saws or cutting machines. The role typically involves:
  • Receiving and Stacking Lumber: The lumber catcher ensures that cut pieces of wood are properly collected, organized, and stacked in the correct order for further processing or transport.
  • Quality Control: They may inspect the lumber for any defects or irregularities that could affect the final product, discarding or flagging pieces that don't meet quality standards.
  • Assisting the Saw Operator: They help the saw operator by clearing cut pieces from the saw area, ensuring a smooth workflow and preventing the machine from becoming cluttered or blocked.
  • Organizing Materials for Assembly: Once the lumber is cut to specification, the catcher helps organize the materials to ensure the right pieces go to the correct areas for building components like trusses or frames.
