Position Description

The Eli and Edythe Broad Center of Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research (Broad Stem Cell Research Center [BSCRC]) at UCLA is recruiting new faculty (assistant to associate professor) working in stem cell research and regenerative medicine. The positions are state-supported, tenure-track/tenured professorships with a guaranteed salary base, outstanding fringe benefits, and substantial start-up funds. Candidates must have a doctorate or medical degree in biomedical or related scientific fields, or an MD or equivalent degree. Applicants with basic research interests in stem cell biology, organ development, tissue regeneration, and stem cell aging, as well as those with a more clinical translational focus on stem cell therapeutics and regenerative medicine are encouraged to apply.

The BSCRC (www.stemcell.ucla.edu) is a multidisciplinary, integrated collaboration of scientific and medical disciplines committed to revolutionizing the treatment of disease through personalized cellular therapies and regenerative medicine. The Center supports innovation, excellence, and the highest ethical standards focused on education and research to drive groundbreaking stem cell discoveries from the laboratory to the patient.

The Center includes more than 250 faculty members from across the UCLA campus including the professional Schools of Medicine, Public Health, Dentistry, Engineering, Law, and Nursing and the Divisions of Physical and Life Sciences. In addition to its support of basic and translational research, the BSCRC, in collaboration with the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine (DGSoM), is a leader in the development of innovative cell therapies for cancer, blindness, and genetic disorders.

The BSCRC is seeking candidates with the potential for being outstanding in clinical work, research, teaching, and in having a clear commitment to enhancing the diversity of the faculty, staff, and trainees.

Appointments will be in academic departments across the full spectrum of biomedical research at UCLA. The BSCRC is located directly adjacent to the physical, engineering, math, and basic biological sciences of the College and is adjacent to the DGSoM.

BSCRC members mentor graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and clinical fellows from disciplines ranging from the subspecialties of the biological, physical, and engineering sciences to the various medical and surgical specialties. Center training programs include a California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) training grant for pre-doctoral and post-doctoral trainees as well as clinical fellows, and a collaborative program for undergraduate biology students from California State University, Northridge (CSUN).
