Supervises training, coordination and performance of emergency communications operations, including scheduling of personnel for Police and Security dispatch; supplementing and assisting in a Tele communicator role as required.Manages and directs the daily shift operations of the Dispatch Center, evaluates work performance, schedules and coordinates personnel and work activities, and ensures compliance with guidelines and policies.Analyzes data from the crime information system for completeness and accuracy and ensures adherence to local, state and federal telecommunication regulations; maintains professional rapport with all customers; promotes awareness of liability issues as well as oversees organization of reference materials.Monitors and updates all active police and security units on system status display, relays emergency and non-emergency calls for Police and Security departments; prioritizes radio traffic; retrieves, verifies, and disseminates information as requested; monitors teletype messages, sending and responding when necessary.Operates systems to log, enter, and maintain up-to-date records on stolen items, vehicles, missing and wanted individuals, protective orders, etc. into crime information center (TCIC, NCIC, Regional and Harris County) databases; maintains various logs promptly and accurately.Answers and provides verbal instructions, assistance and information for all 9-1-1 and non-emergency Police, and Security callers assessing the nature and type of call, and relaying information for dispatch to field personnel according to standard operating procedures.Monitors police and security radio frequencies, PD Panic alarms, BASIS system alarms and intercoms. Dispatches appropriate assistance when needed, and prepares telephone and security radio frequencies to satisfy subpoenas and records requests.Performs random weekly audits of all telecommunicator calls for adherence to policy, procedures, and providing good customer service. Provides mentoring, a coaching opportunity.Assists section supervisor with writing and updating policies and procedures concerning dispatch duties, responsibilities and protocols.Organizes, instructs and directs on-the-job training for new dispatch employees.Ensure CCH's for department applicants are completed, reviewed, and submitted timely to requestors. Acts as agency TLETS Coordinator, CGIS Coordinator, TCIC Terminal Agency Coordinator. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Advanced vocational or electronic skills or a basic knowledge of a profession field is required. An Associate's degree or certification/licensing in a technical specialty program of over 18 months and up to 3 years duration are characteristics of this field. Requires a minimum of five (5) year of directly job-related experience. Preferred: 3 years Supervisory experience. Certification/Licensing: Requires professional licensing, certification or registration directly related to the job.
