Position Summary: Position Summary:Performs routine and some special procedure imaging, diagnostic and medical sonograms. Prepares patient for procedures. Assists Radiologists when needed. Prepares, operates andcares for the equipment being used. Develops/processes films when needed. Adheres to established radiology standards of care . Obtains appropriate continuing education. Assumes responsibility for assigned area and duties. Adheres to hospital wide customer service programs. Performs other duties as assigned such as quality assurance.Exercises professional judgment in performance of procedures. Provides patient care.Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:1. Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors2. Performs all other related duties as assigned3. Prepares and positions patients correctly for specific examinations, observing different and special requirements for each protocol including proper documentation on images and required body part questionnaires4. Assumes responsibilities for designated areas and/ or procedures and produces good technical images5. Assist physicians during procedures as necessary6. Performs equipment quality assurance and calibrations as needed, orders supplies7. Will be required to work in case of emergency procedures or when situations arise in the department. Will be needed to work on call, holidays, overtime and / or day, evening and overnight shift coverage to help maintain adequate and safe coverage for the department8. Maintains the cleanliness of all work areas, equipment and accessories. Reports all malfunctioning equipment to Bio Med and/or supervisor.9. Processes CD's, or print pictures if needed10. Performs routine office duties, such as answering phones, checking previous reports/ images, documents information on patients' request, Meditech or hospital riss system and PAC's digital x-ray system11. Notifies transport when patients are ready to be picked up or returned to floors12. Shows radiologist all images and calls reports to the attending physician and documents communication if necessary13. May be assigned as an instructor or preceptor14. Will treat all people/staff in a professional and courteous manner, upholding the hospital's behavioral standards.15. Will introduce him/her and educate the patient and/or family member regarding the examination that is ordered.16. Should be knowledgeable and skillful in providing care, based on age, physical and psychosocial stature of patient populations; neonate/newborn, pediatric/adolescent,adults and geriatric groups17. Performs all other related duties as assigned18. Duties and hours may change according to the needs of the department or hospitalEducation& Experience Requirements:Completion of a certified ultrasound program or Limited Permit/certificate. (ARDMS) eligibility after 1 year from graduation and 1000 clinical hours) for students.NY State DOH Licensure or Limited Permit required. ARRT registered (RT) and radiographARDMS required for ACR accreditation compliance after January 1, 2019 or ARRT(s) or RT (VS) experience preferred.Must meet continuing education requirements to maintain certification.BLS certification through the (AHA) American Heart Association is required or must be completed with 90 days of hire.Core Competencies:Must be able to speak, write, understand and communicate the English language.Retain composure under stressTeamwork & AdaptabilityActs as a Professional Role ModelAssessment SkillsExcellent Communication Skills (both verbal and written)Attention to DetailPlanning & OrganizingSound Problem-Solving, Judgment and Decision-Making SkillsStress TolerancePhysical/Mental Demands/Requirements& Work Environment:Must be able to remain in stationary position 50% of the timeThe person in this position needs to occasionally move about the department to access patients and paperwork.Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machineryThe person in this position frequently communicates with patients who have questionsabout their bills/financial obligations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.Must be able to observe and inspect employees and patients in the department.Frequently move and position patients for examsMay be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital's SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital's Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access).
