Ultrasound Technologist

Ultrasound Technologists use imaging devices that emit sound waves to create an image that will help physicians assess and diagnose various conditions. There aredifferent kindsof imaging devices, this includes ultrasounds, sonograms, and echocardiograms.Generally, sonographicimaging devices use a handheld probe, which is moved over the area being surveyed to create a two-dimensional or three-dimensional image. These devices can be used for therapy, diagnosis, and even to guide interventional procedures like biopsies or draining fluid collections.
A caregiver in this position works 8:00am– 4:30pm, this caregiver must have Breast Ultrasound experience.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Perform routine imaging, emergent and invasive procedures to detect pathology.
Safelyoperateequipment andmaintainstandards while performing procedures.
Provide copies of imaging studies.
Complete and ensure that all electronic data is sent to itsappropriate destination.
Inspect equipment to ensure proper orientation and contact service if necessary.
Document in charts upon completion of procedures.
Maintain adequate supplies in the work area.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduateofan accredited sonography program.
Registered through the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or board eligible. If not already obtained, registration through the ARDMS isrequiredwithin18 monthsof hire.
Basic life support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
Knowledge of federal and state regulations.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
2 years of experience as a sonographer in an acute care imaging setting.
