Job Description :
The EHS Specialist will be responsible for supporting all aspects of Environmental, Health & Safety compliance at the Hamilton, OH location, as well as regional activities such as environmental reporting, internal audit programs, management system platforms and training applications. This role will report to the EHS Manager, based in Wauconda, IL and collaborate with stakeholders throughout the organization.Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Provide on-site environmental, health and safety support at the Hamilton, OH location.
  • Interpret federal, state, and local regulations to ensure compliance with all applicable requirements.
  • Develop localized policies and programs for site-specific safety requirements.
  • Investigate incidents thoroughly and collaborate with stakeholders to identify and address the root causes.
  • Conduct routine inspections, complete reports, deliver training, and maintain necessary records.
  • Perform hazard assessments, job safety analyses and accident investigations.
  • Coordinate corrective and preventive actions related to environmental and safety issues.
  • Lead and organize an employee safety committee.
  • Coordinate employee exposure monitoring and medical surveillance testing.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with employees, management and external stakeholders to ensure successful adoption of environmental, health & safety initiatives.
  • Communicate and collaborate across all levels of the organization to create a safety-focused culture.
  • Conduct internal audits and report findings for all Synergy US locations.
  • Administer core EHS applications, including ENHESA Compliance Suite, Intelex Management Platform, and Alchemy Learning Management System.
  • Prepare and submit required environmental reports for all Synergy US locations.
  • Perform additional regional support tasks as assigned by the EHS Manager.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or 5+ years of experience in environmental, health, and safety (EHS) management or a related field required.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing setting (food ingredient manufacturing preferred).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships and collaborate across departments and locations.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal EHS regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required; experience with D365, Product Vision, and Intelligent Authoring is a plus.
  • Flexibility to occasionally work 2nd and 3rd shifts to train and support off-shift employees.
  • Willingness to travel 2-5 days per month to Wauconda, IL, and Chicago, IL.
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to assess situations, identify potential hazards, and coordinate mitigation efforts.
Salary Range: $61, 765.00 - $92,600.00The actual compensation that you will be offered will depend on a variety of factors including geography, skills and abilities, education, experience and other relevant factors.
