POSITION SUMMARY:The Unified Communications Engineer reports to the Technology Operations Director and is directly responsible for supporting all telecommunications, i.e. Cisco and ShoreTel (VoIP), Nortel, Spectralink, voice cabling and other 3rd party applications tied into the systems. This position interacts directly with patients, care givers, and support staff. The successful candidate must excel at multi-tasking and have the ability to ramp up quickly to the Cisco and ShoreTel VoIP technology. The candidate will possess in-depth technical skills and maintain telecom infrastructure on campus and at remote sites. Manages the completion of service requests and work orders within a timely manner, and assist with projects to deliver new technologies to improve patient care. Must provide key monthly reports as to informing the adequacy of the network and complete Work Request documentation.POSITION EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field preferred (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree). 5 to 7 years of Telecommunication support experience, with VoIP systems preferred, excellent oral and written communication skills with experience managing multiple priorities and meeting strict deadlines. Advanced knowledge of basic IT concepts, ability to self-motivate and work with minimal supervision. Able to communicate with all levels of the organization up to and including Executive management. Solid analytical skills to continually evaluate and make recommendations on process improvement.LINES OF RESPONSIBILITY:The Unified Communications Engineer will be responsible for PBX/VoIP Network troubleshooting and interfacing with vendors. You will be assisting in the design, implementation and maintenance of all telecommunication systems. Leading a team and providing day to day support of telecommunication operations, all wireless devices, overhead paging systems, power systems for all equipment and all call handling operations. Participate in an after-hours on call rotation schedule ensuring all telecommunication, wireless and audio systems are operational. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others. Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practice Leads the Telecommunications Team and ensures their tasks are completed correctly and on time. Provides hands-on assistance and troubleshoots all phone equipment failures and service issues for all campuses and all users. Provides training and technical expertise on usage of phone equipment and the voice mail system. Programs voice mailboxes for individual users and department trees. Troubleshoots voice mail issues and telecom system failures. Places and evaluates phone equipment orders, coordinates and oversees all phone work orders. Audits, sorts and distributes monthly Call Detail reports as requested. Verifies, organizes and sorts deliveries of telecommunication equipment ordered. Ensures that departmental procedures are followed to track inventory throughout the organization to provide warranty cross-reference; researches and accounts for any missing items. Designs, Installs, maintains and troubleshoot: phone systems, wiring/cabling and repair all telephony equipment Must be familiar with analog and digital phone systems, including Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), which uses broadband connections to place calls over computer networks. Maintains accurate reports in regards to the system, i.e. monthly cost summaries, telephone directory, user database. Responsible for all telecom system backups. Analyze and resolve telecom related problems in a timely manner. Troubleshoot and reports issues to Director Responsible for interfacing with local and long distance vendors. Be able to function in a TEAM environment on a daily basis Retains ownership and responsibility for problems or requests until resolved Monitors and performs the daily operations of numerous telephony systems to include but not limited to: Cisco, Nortel, ShoreTel VoIP, Norstar, CMS, voicemail, Cell phones, Pagers and overhead paging systems while assisting users with prompt resolution of issues and questions. Some travel to Remote Offices required. Participate in an after-hours on call rotation schedule Participate in the organizations emergency disaster plan. All other duties as assigned
