As a member of the Unified Communications team and the direct report to the Manager of Unified Telecommunications, the Unified Communications Engineer is responsible for the design, Implementation, and maintenance of communication systems that integrate various methods of communication, such as voice, video, messaging, and conferencing into a unified platform. This role involves working with technologies like Voice over IP (VoIP), video conferencing systems, instant messaging, and collaboration tools to ensure seamless communication across the Firm. The infrastructure includes but is not limited to Cisco UCS, Cisco Unified Communications Managers, Cisco Unity Connection, UCCX, IM&P, CER, Finesse, Cisco Presence, Webex Suite, Zoom, and all video conferencing. It shall liaise between Unified Communications Engineering and end-users for video conferencing platforms through all locations. JOB RELATIONSHIPS: This position will report directly to the Manager of Unified Telecommunications. The Unified Telecommunications Engineer will communicate effectively with managers and staff in all areas of the Information Systems department, including Operations, Applications Support, Programming, and Help Desk & Training, in all of the Firm's offices. The Unified Telecommunications Engineer is responsible for maintaining and monitoring all Webex rooms, zoom soft codecs, virtual call servers, and related services within the Firm. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: System Design and Implementation:
- Design and Implement unified communication solutions that integrate voice, video, messaging, and conferencing systems.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand communication needs and translate them into technical solutions.
- Configure and deploy communication systems such as VoIP, video conferencing, and collaboration tools.
System Maintenance and Support:
- Monitor the performance of communication systems to ensure optimal functionality and uptime.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to voice, video, and messaging systems.
- Manage and maintain hardware and software related to unified communications.
- Act as the point person on all AV-related events throughout the Firm
- Assist users and staff with all AV equipment in the facility. Additionally, assists with conference room set-ups, breakdowns, and other areas where assistance is needed.
Security and Compliance:
- Implement security protocols to protect communication systems from unauthorized access or breaches.
- Ensure that communication systems comply with Firm policies and industry regulations.
User Training and Support:
- Provide training to end-users on how to use phones, video conferencing, and other collaboration tools effectively.
- Offer technical support to users experiencing issues with communication systems.
Vendor Management:
- Work with vendors and service providers to source, install, and maintain communication technologies.
- Evaluate and recommend new communication technologies that can improve efficiency.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Create and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Generate reports on system performance, usage, and incidents.
Project Management:
- Lead or participate in projects related to deploying or upgrading communication systems.
- Coordinate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of communication systems with other IT infrastructure.
Required Skills and Qualifications:Technical Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of unified communication technologies like VoIP, SIP, and video conferencing.
- Experience with communication platforms like Microsoft Teams, Cisco WebEx, and Zoom.
- Familiarity with network infrastructure and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
Problem-Solving Skills:
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues related to communication systems.
Project Management:
- Experience in managing projects, particularly those related to implementing new technologies.
Communication Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with stakeholders, vendors, and end-users.
Certifications:
- Relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNA or CCNP Collaboration and/or Routing & Switching are a strong plus.
Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years of IT experience, focusing on unified communications and networking. Law firm experience is a plus.
Attendance: All positions require punctuality and regular attendance. Remote candidates will not be considered for this position. The actual salary offered will be based on a number of factors including but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. New York Salary Range $95,000-$115,000 USD
