Unit Clerk - Nights | The Pavilion at Williamsburg Place | Williamsburg, VirginiaAbout the Job:The Unit Clerk performs a variety of secretarial and clerical support duties for the inpatient nursing unit. Ensures the timely, efficient, and organized flow of operations for the assignednursing station/area. Responsibilities include maintenance of the medical records on the unit, general office management of files, ordering supplies, arranging internal consultations and transportation.Roles and Responsibilities: Assembles and maintains patient charts for admissions, transfers, and discharges per facility policy. Answers phones in a professional and timely manner and directs calls to appropriate individuals and/or takes messages. Maintains patient records and administrative reports. Performs a variety of clerical duties relating to updating, organizing, and communicating information on a nursing unit. Coordinates administrative work within the unit as well as with other units and departments. Reports pertinent information in a timely manner to the immediate supervisor. Responds to inquiries and requests from staff and patients. Performs maintenance tasks relating to chart order, chart accuracy and chart current data. Organizes, monitors, stocks units with office and medical supplies and prepares requisitions to maintain established inventories, as required. Faxes and photocopies information, as needed. Delivers incoming and outgoing mail to the units and distributes announcements and posts memos. Obtains lab, x-ray and consult reports, as needed. Identifies and reports equipment or environmental problems promptly for correction. Assists in arranging patient consultations and transportationEducation/Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent required. Experience in healthcare setting preferred. Customer service and administrative/clerical skills required. CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
