ResponsibilitiesThe full job description covers all associated skills, previous experience, and any qualifications that applicants are expected to have.The Unit Coordinator is a specialized role focused on administrative duties and communication in patient units. Serves as administrative support and answering phone for the unit. Greets all patients and assists in new patient orientation to the unit. Performs clerical duties and tasks to allow the unit to run smoothly. The Unit Coordinator position is critical in allowing direct care staff the ability to remain engaged and focused on patient care activities.Duties and Responsibilities:* Answers telephone and direct calls appropriately and timely* Starts and maintains patient records with confidentiality and care* Assists with patient admissions and discharge procedures* Conducts thorough inventory and documentation of patient personal belongings* Files, faxes, and photocopies documents as needed* Serves as a resource for staff and other disciplines* Serves as the liaison for the unit* Other duties as assignedQualificationsMinimum QualificationsEducation: High School Diploma or GED requiredExperience: Previous experience as an Administrative Assistant or Unit Clerk preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting preferred.License / Certification:* Valid TX Driver's License* CPR within first week of orientation* CPI within first week of orientationSkills and Abilities:* Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing* Ability to demonstrate an alert, sensitive and supportive attitude with patients, families, employees, and management* Responds to patients with empathy and positive interpersonal skills* Demonstrates willingness to cooperate with others* Maintains annual training and competencies* Proficient in documentation organization and time management skills* Working knowledge of computer systems and office equipment* Effective decision making and problem solvingEEO StatementAll UHS subsidiaries are committed to providing an environment of mutual respect where equal employment opportunities are available to all applicants and teammates.
