Job Description :
The Unit Secretary is responsible for the flow of communication and all clerical activities in assigned nursing department meeting and/or exceeding expectations of all customers. It is the responsibility of the clinical secretary to serve as a liaison for the daily communication of the department between staff, patients, and all customers.Education:
  • High school diploma
Licensure:
  • CPR
Experience:
  • Minimum of one years' experience in secretarial capacity preferred
  • OB experience preferred
  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge of Maternal and Newborn Health Care clerical support within 1 year of hire
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills to communicate appropriately to the age of the patients served
  • Has a successful record of adding value to organizations through the proactive analysis and resolution of potential barriers that may negatively affect the organization.
  • Demonstrates a record of significantly improving patient experience.
  • Possesses superior communication skills, demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment, and be able to effectively direct front and back-end work processes and personnel toward a common goal.
General Responsibilities:
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times, including HIPPA guidelines
  • Facilitates a quiet work environment
  • Answers phone using approved etiquette
  • Answers call lights promptly and communicates patient request to appropriate caregiver
  • Maintains departmental charges
  • Maintains inventory logs
  • Orders and maintains departmental supplies and stocking of patient care areas
  • Responsible for all State mandated reporting (hearing screen, newborn screens)
  • Completes cleaning and restocking as assigned
  • Attends educational offerings
  • Reports safety concerns appropriately.
  • Monitors equipment issues and needs and reports accordingly
