University Driver - Virginia Union University - TRANSFORCE : Job Details

Job Overview:Virginia Union University is seeking reliable and experienced drivers for part-time, on-call work for the 2024-2025 school year. This position is perfect for retirees, individuals looking to supplement their income, or those seeking part-time opportunities. Drivers will primarily be responsible for transporting students, faculty, and/or staff to sporting events and other university-related events throughout the school year. Overnight travel may be required for some events, with hotel accommodations provided for the driver, meals not included. Schedule/Start time will be based on travel needs. Key Responsibilities:

• Safely operate university shuttle buses or passenger vans (Ford F550/29-passenger, Freightliner/39-passenger, and 12/15 Passenger Vans) for trips, including local and out-of-state destinations.
• Transport passengers to sporting events, university events, and other scheduled trips.
• Ensure compliance with all traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Conduct regular pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure proper vehicle maintenance.
• Communicate with passengers in a professional and courteous manner.
• Adhere to scheduled travel times and promptly report any delays or issues to the Transportation Director.

Qualifications:

• Valid CDL Class A or Class B license with Passenger and Air Brake endorsements.
• Clean driving record.
• Current medical card.
• Proven experience in passenger transport, preferably in a shuttle or bus driving capacity.
• Strong dependability, punctuality, and reliability.
• Ability to handle varying travel schedules, including one-day and multi-day trips.
